Overview

OneGold gives investors online access to vaulted physical precious metals without requiring them to take immediate delivery of coins or bars.

Current products include:

  • gold;
  • silver;
  • platinum;
  • U.S. vaulted products;
  • Canadian products;
  • Swiss products;
  • U.K. products.

The account represents ownership interests in actual physical precious metals held through vaulting arrangements.

This is not the same structure as:

  • a gold ETF;
  • mining stock;
  • futures contract;
  • cryptocurrency token;
  • bank deposit.

The central economic costs are not one simple commission.

They can include:

  • purchase premiums/spreads;
  • storage;
  • payment-method fees;
  • the current specific 0.30% sell-fee disclosure;
  • withdrawal fees in some cases;
  • physical-redemption economics.

May fit better for

  • investors who want vaulted physical-metal exposure;
  • investors who want smaller digital purchase increments than typical whole-bar purchases;
  • users who value physical redemption;
  • investors seeking gold, silver and platinum in one account;
  • users comfortable paying recurring storage rather than an ETF expense ratio.

May fit less well for

  • investors wanting a securities brokerage account;
  • investors seeking SIPC protection for metal value;
  • users unwilling to pay minimum quarterly storage charges;
  • investors requiring one perfectly consistent fee disclosure across every OneGold support page;
  • users who want physical possession immediately;
  • investors who do not want commodity-price volatility.

Company history and current ownership

OneGold states:

  • Founded: 2018
  • Founders: APMEX and Sprott

In 2021:

  • APMEX full ownership: Yes

The company states that Sprott is no longer involved in operations.

In 2025, OneGold became part of:

  • Parent group: Bullion International Group

alongside APMEX and other precious-metals brands.

---

Investors own interests in physical metal

OneGold's ownership materials and user agreement describe "Digital Metal" as a digital representation of actual physical precious metal.

Allocation format can differ by product/location.

Some current product descriptions use fully allocated language; some describe pooled positions.

---

Vault locations differ by product

Current OneGold materials identify storage arrangements in locations including:

  • United States;
  • Canada;
  • Switzerland;
  • United Kingdom.

Storage providers can include:

  • APMEX;
  • Brinks;
  • Loomis International;
  • MKS PAMP;
  • Royal Canadian Mint;
  • other approved vaulting arrangements depending on product.

The specific product page controls.

Current storage fees

Current OneGold storage pricing:

  • Gold storage annual: 0.12%
  • Silver storage annual: 0.30%
  • Platinum storage annual: 0.30%
  • Minimum storage fee: $5 per quarter
  • Minimum annual storage: $20
  • Billing: quarterly

The minimum matters for small balances.

Example: $1,000 of gold

Headline annual percentage:

$1,000 × 0.12% = $1.20

But the account-level minimum is:

$5 × 4 = $20/year

Effective minimum cost in this simplified small-balance example:

$20 ÷ $1,000 = 2.0%

The 0.12% headline rate does not describe the actual effective cost of a very small account.

Example: $100,000 of gold

$100,000 × 0.12% = $120/year

The percentage fee exceeds the $20 annual minimum, so the minimum no longer drives the result.

---

Purchase premiums vary by metal and location

Current live pricing changes with market conditions and product.

At the fact-check date, representative U.S. product premium percentages displayed approximately:

  • US gold premium: 0.80%
  • US silver premium: 2.00%
  • US platinum premium: 5.00%

These are live market references, not permanent contractual rates.

Other locations can display different premiums and spreads.

The spread between buy and sell pricing can matter even where a displayed premium is low.

---

OneGold has a current internal fee-disclosure conflict

This needs to remain visible.

A general current OneGold "Fees" support page states that customers can buy, sell and redeem free of transaction fees.

A more specific current "How does the sell process work?" support page states:

  • Sell transaction fee: 0.30% of total sale value

The live storage/product pages also describe U.S. product selling economics using bid price less 0.30%.

Therefore:

  • Sell fee current specific: 0.30%
  • Fee disclosure conflict: Yes

The current specific sale guidance supports the 0.30% sell charge, while the general fee page conflicts with it.

This is an update trigger.

---

Purchase minimum and funding minimum are different questions

OneGold's support materials distinguish transaction mechanics from account funding mechanics.

Certain direct purchase methods can permit transactions below that amount.

The payment method can change the minimum and fee.

---

Payment-method fees

Current OneGold support references include:

  • ACH fee: $0
  • Bank wire funding fee: $0
  • Personal check fee: $0
  • Credit card fee: 3.99%
  • PayPal fee: 3.99%

Limits and settlement times vary by method.

They are separate cost layers.

---

Selling moves proceeds to account cash

Current OneGold guidance states:

  • users can sell eligible settled metal from the Sell page;
  • there is no minimum sale amount;
  • proceeds move to the cash balance;
  • the current specific support page applies a 0.30% fee to the sale value.

OneGold's user agreement also makes clear that the company is not obligated to repurchase digital metal in every circumstance.

Therefore:

  • Guaranteed liquidity: No
  • Guaranteed repurchase: No

A 24/7 order interface is not the same as a contractual guarantee of liquidity.

---

Cash FDIC language is internally inconsistent

A current specific sell-support page states that the OneGold cash balance is held at Wells Fargo Bank in an FDIC-insured account.

The OneGold user agreement includes language stating that cash balances are not eligible for FDIC or SIPC coverage.

Those statements should not be reconciled by assumption.

Even if current cash balances receive pass-through or direct bank-deposit treatment under a particular arrangement, the precious-metal position itself is not an FDIC-insured deposit.

---

Physical insurance covers physical risk, not metal prices

Current U.S. product pages state that U.S. metals are insured against theft or loss through Lloyd's-related coverage.

Insurance does not cover:

  • falling gold prices;
  • falling silver prices;
  • falling platinum prices;
  • spreads;
  • premiums;
  • storage costs;
  • missed investment opportunities.

---

Physical redemption is available

OneGold supports redemption of digital holdings into physical precious-metals products.

Current support materials state that redemption can begin with small physical units, including references as low as one gram for eligible products.

Actual product availability and redemption terms control.

---

Withdrawal fees differ by method

Current OneGold support states:

  • ACH withdrawal fee: $0
  • Wire withdrawal fee: $25

Payment rails can also have timing and account-verification constraints.

---

OneGold is not a precious-metals ETF

The platform's marketing sometimes compares storage costs with ETF fees.

That can be useful as a cost benchmark.

It does not make the products legally or operationally identical.

OneGold

  • direct account interest in physical metal;
  • vaulting/storage;
  • physical redemption capability;
  • product premiums and spreads;
  • recurring storage.

Precious-metals ETF

  • security shares;
  • brokerage custody;
  • fund structure;
  • fund expense ratio;
  • exchange trading;
  • creation/redemption mechanics generally handled by authorized participants rather than ordinary shareholders taking retail bars.

Assessment

OneGold solves a genuine logistical problem: holding physical precious-metal exposure without personally receiving, storing and insuring every coin or bar.

Its headline storage percentages are low, especially for larger gold balances.

But two details matter more than a casual pricing comparison suggests.

First, the $5 quarterly storage minimum can make very small accounts far more expensive in percentage terms than the 0.12% gold headline.

Second, OneGold's current own support materials conflict on transaction fees and cash FDIC treatment.

That is not a reason to invent a resolution.

The review should show the conflict, use the more specific current 0.30% sell-fee guidance for sale-cost reference, and avoid a universal FDIC claim.

The investor owns metal exposure, not a bank deposit.
