Tradier: Platform Profile

Tradier is an API-first brokerage ecosystem built heavily around active stock and options trading.

It differs from a traditional broker in two ways. First, its own web, mobile and desktop software exists alongside a large ecosystem of third-party trading applications. Second, it uses subscription pricing to eliminate certain stock and option commissions for active traders.

Tradier also now supports futures through a separate commodity-interest entity. The result is a flexible but more complex structure than a single all-in-one broker.

May fit better for

  • active options traders
  • developers using brokerage APIs
  • traders using third-party platforms
  • traders wanting flat subscription pricing
  • investors wanting stocks, options and futures under one brand

May fit less well for

  • passive buy-and-hold investors who rarely trade
  • investors wanting a deep full-service wealth platform
  • traders who dislike separate securities/futures account structures
  • investors who want the broadest mutual-fund/research ecosystem
  • users who assume "commission-free" means no exchange or regulatory charges

Tradier Brokerage

Conventional securities are offered through Tradier Brokerage, Inc. (CRD 104982, SEC 8-52972), a FINRA member and SIPC member. Its current main office is in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Customer securities accounts are carried and cleared by Apex Clearing Corporation.

Tradier Brokerage handles stocks, ETFs, equity options, index options and applicable retirement brokerage.

Three subscription tiers

Tradier currently uses Lite, Pro and Pro Plus.

Lite

Current subscription price: $0/month.

Current principal commissions:

  • stocks: $0.35 per trade
  • equity and ETF options: $0.35 per contract
  • single-listed index options: $0.35 per contract
  • futures, Micro published rate: $0.75
  • futures, standard published rate: $1.50
  • futures options published rate: $1.50
  • option assignment/exercise fee: $9

Exchange, clearing and regulatory charges can still apply.

Pro

Current subscription: $10/month.

Current principal pricing:

  • stocks: $0 per trade
  • equity and ETF options: $0 commission
  • single-listed index options: $0.35 per contract
  • futures, Micro published rate: $0.35
  • futures, standard published rate: $0.75
  • futures options published rate: $0.75
  • assignment/exercise fee: $9

Pro also includes Tradier Pro Desktop, Web, Mobile, API access and an annual securities IRA fee waiver.

Pro Plus

Current subscription: $35/month.

Current principal pricing:

  • stocks: $0 per trade
  • equity and ETF options: $0 commission
  • single-listed index options: $0.10 per contract
  • futures, Micro published rate: $0.25
  • futures, standard published rate: $0.50
  • futures options published rate: $0.50
  • assignment/exercise fee: $5

Again, pass-through charges remain.

The $10 Pro break-even is easy to understand

Ignoring pass-through charges, Lite equity and ETF options cost $0.35 per contract while Pro costs $10/month.

Break-even contract count: $10 ÷ $0.35 = 28.57.

So roughly 29 equity/ETF option contracts per month would generate $10.15 of Lite commission. For a trader doing materially more than that, Pro's flat subscription can become economically attractive.

That calculation ignores exchange fees, regulatory fees, assignment/exercise, index-option differences and other plan benefits.

Stock-trade break-even

Lite stock trades are $0.35 each. Pro is $10/month with $0 stock commission.

Again: $10 ÷ $0.35 ≈ 28.6. About 29 stock trades produces approximately $10.15 in Lite commissions.

An investor placing two trades per month has a very different cost profile from an options trader placing hundreds.

Options are the core strength

Tradier supports calls, puts, covered calls, cash-secured puts, vertical spreads, multi-leg strategies, combo orders and up to four-leg option orders. Option-level approval is required.

"Commission-free options" on Pro and Pro Plus refers to the broker commission on eligible equity and ETF options. It does not eliminate exchange fees, OCC fees, regulatory fees, certain index-option commissions or assignment and exercise fees.

Tradier Futures is legally separate

Commodity-interest products are provided through Tradier Futures, a DBA of Lazzara Consulting Inc. Current disclosures state it is an NFA member and CFTC regulated.

Tradier Brokerage's SIPC status does not apply to the futures account.

Important current futures-page conflict

Tradier's general pricing table publishes futures rates for Lite, Pro and Pro Plus. However, the current dedicated Tradier Futures page states a $2,000 futures account minimum and a Pro or Pro Plus plan requirement.

The dedicated futures page should control operational eligibility. Accordingly: Tradier publishes Lite futures rates in its general plan table, but its current dedicated futures page states that a $2,000 balance and Pro or Pro Plus plan are required for the futures offering. This first-party inconsistency is worth keeping visible.

Futures charges

Current dedicated disclosures state an additional futures clearing and routing fee of $0.35 per contract, plus applicable NFA fees, exchange fees and regulatory fees.

CQG and Rithmic connections can also carry separate monthly charges under current pricing.

Forex

Tradier's disclosures state that commodity-interest products including futures and forex are offered through Tradier Futures. Tradier Brokerage is not the retail forex counterparty; the provider is Tradier Futures / Lazzara Consulting Inc.

Product availability can depend on current account and platform support.

Brokerage minimum and account fees

The current Tradier Brokerage minimum is $0.

Current published fees include an outgoing ACAT fee of $75, an IRA annual fee of $30 and an IRA termination fee of $60. The annual securities IRA fee is waived with Pro or Pro Plus.

The current inactivity schedule includes a $50 annual fee for certain small or inactive accounts under the stated conditions.

API access

Tradier's API is one of its defining features. The current Brokerage API supports live market data, historical data, streaming quotes, account balances, positions, transaction history, stock orders, options orders and multi-leg orders.

Users receive a production API environment and a paper/sandbox environment. The sandbox provides paper trading and delayed data.

Third-party ecosystem

Tradier intentionally integrates with many third-party tools. Current marketing describes connections with more than 100 trading applications and tools.

That can be valuable to users who prefer TradingView, Options AI, Bookmap, automation services, specialist options software or custom applications. It also means the experience can vary substantially depending on the chosen front end.

Tradier's own platforms

Current first-party interfaces include Tradier Web, Tradier mobile and Tradier Pro Desktop. Tradier Pro Desktop is tied to paid subscription access.

Current AI/developer expansion

Tradier also promotes an MCP Server for developers building AI trading agents. This is developer infrastructure, not a claim of safety or profitability. API access can automate mistakes as efficiently as valid strategies.

Retirement

Current securities brokerage supports IRA accounts, with a $30 annual IRA fee that is waived with Pro or Pro Plus.

A futures IRA can use a separate custodian and separate fee schedule, so securities and futures IRA fees should not be merged.

Protection

Securities. Tradier Brokerage is FINRA and SIPC. SIPC does not protect market losses.

Futures and forex. Tradier Futures operates under CFTC and NFA regulation. SIPC does not protect ordinary commodity-interest trading losses.

Cash. Securities themselves are not FDIC insured.

Assessment

Tradier makes the strongest economic case for active options traders. The $10 Pro plan can mathematically offset Lite's $0.35-per-contract commission at roughly 29 equity/ETF option contracts per month before pass-through fees.

Pro Plus becomes more relevant to high-volume index-options traders, futures traders and users valuing lower exercise and assignment costs.

Tradier's second major strength is its API and third-party ecosystem. The tradeoff is fragmentation: securities, futures and forex do not all sit under the same regulated entity, and a user can interact through several different front ends.

That flexibility is valuable for sophisticated users but can be more complicated than a conventional integrated broker.
