tastytrade is a derivatives-first brokerage: its pricing, tooling and account workflow are organised around options and futures. Webull is a U.S.-centric modern trading platform whose headline pricing on stocks, ETFs and equity options is $0 and whose product set has expanded quickly into futures, crypto and event contracts.
A single ranking would not be useful here. The structures differ, and the right fit depends on what a reader actually trades.
Stocks and ETFs
tastytrade charges $0 commission to open and close U.S. stock and ETF positions, with a $0.0008 per share equity clearing fee plus applicable regulatory fees.
Webull charges $0 commission on eligible U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs, with regulatory and exchange fees still applying.
Both are commission-free at the headline level; the difference is that tastytrade states a per-share clearing fee in its canonical schedule.
Options pricing
tastytrade charges $1.00 per contract to open, capped at $10 per leg, $0 to close, plus a $0.10 per contract clearing fee and applicable regulatory fees. Exercise or assignment costs $5.
Webull charges $0 commission and a $0 Webull contract fee on stock and ETF options, with regulatory and exchange fees still applying. An oversized-option fee of $0.10 per contract can apply at 500 contracts or greater.
For a reader trading large single-leg equity-option size, the tastytrade $10 per leg cap and the Webull $0 contract fee are structurally different answers to the same cost question.
Index options
Webull states $0.50 per contract for index options on its controlling pricing page. Some Webull marketing pages have stated $0.55. That discrepancy is documented as a monitoring trigger rather than resolved silently, and a reader trading index options should confirm the current rate before trading.
tastytrade's canonical record does not establish a separate consumer index-option rate; index options fall under its published options schedule.
Options workflow
tastytrade's canonical record establishes options chains, multi-leg strategies, a strategy builder, Greeks, probability analysis, options backtesting, exercise and assignment support, and tiered trading permission levels.
Webull's canonical record establishes four options approval levels with defined strategy sets, an options screener, an options calculator, profit-and-loss diagrams, Greeks, implied volatility, rolling, leg-in/leg-out, unusual options activity and paper options trading.
Both are complete options workflows. tastytrade's is organised around strategy mechanics and backtesting; Webull's is organised around screening, approval tiers and visual analysis.
Futures
tastytrade charges $1.00 per contract to open and $1.00 to close on standard futures, $0.75 per contract on micro futures on each side, $1.25 per contract on futures options and $0.75 on micro futures options, plus a $0.30 per contract clearing fee and exchange and NFA fees.
Webull charges $0.25 per contract, per side on micro futures, $0.70 on mini futures and $1.25 on standard futures through Webull Futures LLC, plus exchange and NFA fees. Futures accounts transitioned to Webull Futures LLC effective April 25, 2026.
Platforms
tastytrade offers desktop, web and mobile platforms with advanced charting, risk-analysis tools, trade journaling and TradingView integration.
Webull offers Webull Desktop, WebTrade, Mobile and Webull Lite, with advanced charting, drawing tools, custom alerts, screeners, unlimited layouts and paper trading, plus subscription market-data feeds for deeper depth-of-book access.
Technical and market research
Webull's canonical record establishes technical indicators, cloud-saved drawings, company fundamentals, market news, community features and paid Level 2 and overnight data subscriptions.
tastytrade's canonical record establishes advanced charting and risk-analysis tooling but does not enumerate an equivalent market-data subscription tier. Where a feed is not established in the record, it is not claimed here.
APIs and automation
Webull's OpenAPI covers stocks, fractional stocks, options, futures, crypto and event contracts over HTTP, MQTT and gRPC, with Python and Java SDKs, and includes broker, trading, connect and market-data interfaces.
tastytrade's canonical record establishes API access but does not enumerate an equivalent protocol and SDK scope. A reader building automation should treat the documented scope difference as the deciding factor rather than assuming parity.
Direct crypto
tastytrade supports direct crypto through Zero Hash with 20+ assets, a $1 minimum order, external deposits and wallet withdrawals, stablecoin funding, and fees of 0.75% of total purchase for Bitcoin and Ether and 1.00% for other assets, on opening and closing transactions. Staking and crypto-to-crypto trading are not supported.
Webull supports direct crypto through Webull Pay LLC with Coinbase for execution and custody generally, and Bakkt Crypto Solutions, LLC in New York, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. The canonical record states a headline 70+ assets, a spread of about 1% included in the buy and sell price on many current trades, $0 custody fee, and 24/7 trading. Crypto accounts are not SIPC protected.
Prediction and event contracts
tastytrade charges $0 commission on event contracts plus $0.01 per contract clearing and $0.01 per contract regulatory and exchange fees.
Webull offers Kalshi event contracts through Webull Futures LLC at $0.01 per contract firm fee plus $0.01 per contract exchange fee, a $0.02 total transaction charge on open and on close, contracts priced between $0.01 and $0.99, and $1 winning and $0 losing settlement, in a separate account that is not SIPC protected.
Extended and overnight equity trading
Both records establish extended-hours equity access. Webull's record specifies 24/5 trading on selected securities with defined pre-market, after-hours and overnight sessions from Sunday evening through Thursday overnight, and notes that eligibility can change.
tastytrade's record establishes 24/5 stock and ETF trading and extended-hours trading without an equivalent published session table.
Forex
Neither record establishes conventional retail spot forex. tastytrade supports currency futures, which are regulated derivatives and a different product. Webull's canonical record likewise does not establish spot forex.
Automated investing
Webull Advisors LLC offers automated portfolios with a $100 minimum and an annual advisory fee of approximately 0.15% to 0.30% depending on strategy, with trades executed by Webull Financial LLC.
tastytrade's canonical record does not establish a consumer robo-advisor. A reader who wants a managed allocation alongside a trading account will not find one at tastytrade in the current record.
Platform philosophy
tastytrade is a derivatives-first brokerage whose defaults assume options and futures literacy. Webull is a broad active-trading platform whose defaults assume self-directed equity traders who may expand into derivatives, crypto and event contracts.
ROIStreet does not assign a winner or star rating. Match the products you actually trade, the cost structure that applies to your size, and the tooling you will genuinely use.
