Webull: Platform Profile
We may earn a commission if you open an account through links on this page. Our editorial analysis is independent and is never influenced by commercial partnerships. Full disclosure.
Webull has evolved from a commission-free stock-trading app into a much broader active-investing platform.
The current U.S. product combines stocks, ETFs, fractional shares, sophisticated options tools, futures, crypto, fixed income, event contracts, IRAs, automated investing, APIs, 24/5 equity trading and a substantial desktop platform.
That makes the old description of Webull as simply an advanced-charting alternative to Robinhood obsolete.
The platform now overlaps with Robinhood in crypto and prediction markets, with Schwab and E*TRADE in advanced trading tools, and with futures-oriented brokers in listed derivatives.
Its strongest advantage is still trading technology.
Its biggest weakness is that the growing product set now sits across several different legal entities and pricing structures.

Webull's strongest identity is still active trading
Fidelity and Schwab can serve investors who never open an advanced chart.
Webull is much more deliberately built around the trading screen.
Its tools include:
* configurable charts * technical indicators * order-flow data * scanners * multi-leg options * paper trading * advanced order types * algorithmic equity orders * overnight markets * futures ladders * APIs
Someone who primarily buys an index fund once each month may use very little of that.
Someone actively managing stocks, options or futures can use much more of the platform's actual differentiation.
Stocks and ETFs still cost $0 online
Webull charges no commission for eligible U.S.-listed stock and ETF trades in its standard self-directed accounts.
That does not mean Webull earns nothing from the trade.
Webull identifies revenue sources that include:
* payment for order flow * securities lending * margin interest * interest on free credit balances
The economic question is therefore broader than the commission displayed on the ticket.
Execution quality, spread and account economics still matter.
Fractional shares now begin at $1
Current Webull Help Center documentation states that eligible stocks and ETFs can be purchased fractionally beginning at:
$1.
A fractional sell can be as small as:
$0.01
subject to minimum quantity requirements.
Webull has older pages that still refer to a $5 fractional minimum.
Those pages should not control this review.
The current transactional Help Center documentation is more specific and should be treated as the operative retail rule.
Fractional shares have limitations
Fractional orders cannot be shorted.
They also cannot transfer in kind through ACATS.
If a customer fully transfers the account to another brokerage, fractional positions are generally liquidated and the cash sent later as a residual.
That can matter if the investor is trying to move the portfolio without creating sales.
Webull supports recurring investing
Eligible stocks and ETFs can be purchased on an automated schedule.
Current schedules include:
* every trading day * weekly * every two weeks * monthly
Fixed recurring investments start at:
$1.
Webull also offers a dynamic recurring feature that changes the investment amount based on the security's relationship to selected moving-average benchmarks.
That does not guarantee improved dollar-cost averaging.
It is an automated allocation rule.
The investor remains responsible for deciding whether the rule makes sense.
Webull options are considerably deeper than the old review suggests
Standard stock and ETF options currently have:
* $0 commission * $0 Webull contract fee
Webull supports four approval levels, ranging from covered strategies to approved naked equity and index options.
Its tools include:
* configurable chains * Greeks * implied volatility * probability analysis * options calculators * profit/loss diagrams * unusual-options activity * screeners * rolling positions * leg-in/leg-out functionality * paper trading
This is one of Webull's strongest areas.
Index options are not free
Certain index options use separate pricing.
Webull's current main Pricing page lists:
$0.50 per contract.
Some individual Webull marketing pages currently display $0.55.
ROIStreet should use the main Pricing schedule as the controlling fee source and monitor the discrepancy.
Exchange and regulatory fees can also apply.
Large options orders can trigger another charge.
For applicable orders of at least 500 contracts, Webull currently lists:
$0.10 per contract
for the oversized-order fee.
Webull Desktop is the center of the advanced platform
The existing ROIStreet review refers only to "desktop and mobile trading."
That misses the actual platform.
Webull Desktop includes tools such as:
* customizable workspaces * advanced charts * technical studies * order-flow indicators * TPO / Market Profile * volume footprint * volume delta * TurboTrader * screeners * alerts * paper trading * futures tools
It is closer to an active-trading workstation than a simple desktop companion to a phone app.
WebTrade gives browser access
WebTrade provides a browser-based environment for customers who do not want to install desktop software.
It supports research, account management and trading through the browser.
The mobile app remains the broadest consumer entry point for several newer products.
Webull also operates Lite mode for a more simplified workflow.
OpenAPI makes Webull more relevant to quantitative traders
Webull's OpenAPI now provides programmatic access to:
* stocks * options * futures * crypto * event contracts
It supports:
* HTTP APIs * MQTT real-time streaming * gRPC event notifications
Official SDKs currently include:
* Python * Java
That is a meaningful differentiator from brokers that provide advanced charts but little serious programmatic access.
24/5 trading extends the equity session
Webull currently divides eligible equity trading into:
* pre-market: 4:00 AM–9:30 AM ET * regular: 9:30 AM–4:00 PM ET * after-hours: 4:00 PM–8:00 PM ET * overnight: 8:00 PM–4:00 AM ET
The overnight session makes select securities available around the clock during much of the weekday cycle.
Not every security participates.
Overnight liquidity can also be thinner.
A market being open does not guarantee a narrow spread or deep order book.
Webull has a substantive futures business now
The old review barely mentioned futures.
Current futures accounts are carried through:
Webull Futures LLC.
Webull Futures is a CFTC-registered Futures Commission Merchant and NFA member.
Its NFA ID is:
0568685.
Current products include futures tied to:
* equity indexes * interest rates * currencies * agriculture * metals * energy * cryptocurrency
Webull also supports nano and micro contracts.
Futures pricing depends on contract size
Current headline Webull pricing is:
* Micro: $0.25 per contract * Mini: $0.70 per contract * Regular: $1.25 per contract
Exchange and regulatory charges are separate.
That is more useful than saying only that Webull has "low-cost futures."
A trader should compare the actual contract being traded.
Intraday futures margin is another active-trader feature
Webull Futures publishes reduced intraday margin for selected contracts.
The amounts vary by product and market conditions.
Webull can change or withdraw those intraday requirements.
That means an evergreen review should not publish a table of fixed margin dollar amounts as though they were permanent.
Leverage is exactly what makes lower intraday margin attractive.
It is also what makes it dangerous.
Options on futures are part of the derivatives structure
Webull's current futures materials and market-data program expressly cover options on futures.
These accounts do not receive SIPC protection.
Pricing and eligibility should be evaluated from the specific Webull Futures schedule rather than assuming equity-option pricing applies.
Crypto is back inside the main Webull experience
Webull previously moved crypto into a separate Webull Pay application.
That historical fact is now stale as a description of the current customer experience.
Direct crypto has returned to the Webull app.
Current Webull marketing states that more than:
70 assets
are available.
Examples include:
* Bitcoin * Ethereum * Solana * Litecoin * Cardano * Avalanche
The exact lineup can change frequently.
Webull Pay remains the crypto legal entity
The interface may be integrated again.
The legal entity distinction remains.
Cryptocurrency trading is provided by:
Webull Pay LLC
NMLS:
1886762
Webull Financial and Webull Pay are separate entities.
That separation determines how the assets are regulated and protected.
Crypto custody depends on where the customer lives
Webull currently uses different service providers.
For customers outside New York, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, current Webull documentation states that Coinbase handles:
* execution * custody
For customers in those jurisdictions, Bakkt Crypto Solutions handles the corresponding functions.
That means a review should not publish one universal crypto custodian.
The correct provider depends on location.
Crypto pricing is not actually costless
Webull currently does not charge a separately stated crypto commission.
Instead, its current standard schedule incorporates a:
1% spread
into many crypto buy and sell prices.
Suppose the market reference price of an asset is $10,000.
A simplified 1% pricing spread could produce:
* buy price around $10,100 * sell price around $9,900
before considering market movements.
That means a round trip can carry meaningful economic cost even though the commission line reads zero.
Stablecoins currently receive different treatment under Webull's published fee schedule.
Crypto is not SIPC or FDIC insured
Direct crypto is not an ordinary brokerage security.
Webull expressly states that cryptocurrency is not:
* SIPC protected * FDIC insured
That remains true even though Webull Financial is a SIPC-member broker-dealer.
Prediction markets are now part of Webull
Webull offers Event Contracts through its Prediction Markets product.
Customers can trade binary Yes/No outcomes involving subjects such as:
* economics * markets * politics * crypto * sports * weather * entertainment
The product is built around partnered exchange infrastructure including Kalshi.
Event contracts use separate accounts
A customer must open an Event Contract account linked to an eligible individual brokerage account.
The event account has a separate account number, although buying power is connected operationally to the underlying brokerage relationship.
Event contracts are available only to eligible U.S. residents.
Event-contract pricing is simple
Each contract currently carries:
* $0.01 Webull firm fee * $0.01 exchange fee
That produces:
$0.02 per contract
in transaction charges.
The fees apply on both opening and closing trades.
The contract itself trades between:
$0.01 and $0.99.
If the selected outcome resolves in the customer's favor, the standard contract pays:
$1.
Otherwise:
$0.
Event contracts are not leveraged
Buying Yes at $0.50 costs approximately $0.50 plus transaction fees.
That makes the maximum direct contract loss easier to understand than a leveraged futures position.
It does not make event contracts low-risk.
The entire amount paid for the contract can be lost.
The settlement language and resolution source matter.
Webull Advisors adds managed investing
Webull Advisors LLC provides Webull's automated portfolio-management service.
The current minimum is:
$100.
Annual advisory fees range from:
0.15% to 0.30%
depending on strategy.
Webull describes the managed service as powered by BlackRock.
Trades in advisory accounts are executed through Webull Financial LLC.
This product justifies placing Webull in the Robo-Advisors category.
Managed investing changes the "active trader only" story
A customer no longer has to select each investment manually.
Webull Advisors can manage a portfolio based on the selected advisory strategy.
Managed IRAs are also supported.
That does not turn Webull into a retirement-first platform.
Its most differentiated products are still trading-oriented.
But the statement that Webull offers only self-directed investing is no longer correct.
Fixed income is another significant expansion
Webull currently provides access to:
* U.S. Treasury bonds * corporate bonds * municipal bonds * fractional bonds
Fractional fixed-income positions can begin around:
$100.
Standard Treasury orders have a larger minimum.
Current Treasury pricing carries a:
0.10% markup
on principal value.
Corporate bonds also use a 0.10% markup, currently with a $10 minimum.
That makes Webull's bond pricing fundamentally different from brokers charging a flat per-bond commission.
IRAs are broader than the old review shows
Webull currently supports:
* Traditional IRA * Roth IRA * Rollover IRA
All are cash accounts.
IRA customers cannot:
* use margin borrowing * short securities
Options are available only up to Level 2 and require approval.
Customers can also use:
* recurring investing * Roth conversions * managed IRA portfolios
The old database string simply saying "Taxable, IRA, Roth" no longer adequately describes the offering.
Margin pricing is competitive mainly for Premium customers
Webull's standard margin rate was:
8.74%
as of March 31, 2026.
Webull Premium used lower tiered rates, approximately:
3.90% to 5.20%
depending on debit size as of that same date.
Those numbers are variable.
They should always be displayed with a date rather than treated as permanent account characteristics.
Webull requires at least:
$2,000
of equity for standard margin eligibility.
Market data is partly free and partly subscription-based
Webull offers substantial market information.
Some advanced feeds require payment unless included through an eligible subscription or promotion.
Current examples include:
* Nasdaq TotalView * NBBO * Overnight Consolidated Level 2 * OPRA options data * CME futures data
Professional users and entity accounts can face dramatically different pricing from ordinary nonprofessional retail customers.
That makes one headline "Level II price" incomplete.
Webull Cash Management uses a separate protection framework
Eligible brokerage cash can participate in Webull's Cash Management program.
Cash swept into eligible program banks can qualify for FDIC insurance subject to:
* applicable limits * bank aggregation * ownership category * program rules
Cash not participating in the FDIC sweep can remain under the applicable securities brokerage framework instead.
The cash balance displayed in the account does not by itself identify the protection structure.
Leaving Webull costs $75
Webull currently charges:
$75
for either a full or partial outgoing ACATS transfer.
The charge is currently identified as an Apex Clearing fee in Webull's transfer documentation.
Fractional shares cannot transfer in kind.
Certain other holdings can also require liquidation.
The exit fee therefore matters when comparing Webull with brokers such as Fidelity that currently charge no standard ACATS-out fee.
How Webull is regulated
Securities
Self-directed securities brokerage is provided through:
Webull Financial LLC
FINRA CRD:
289063
SEC file:
8-69978
Webull Financial is a FINRA and SIPC member.
Clearing
Ordinary securities clearing currently uses:
Apex Clearing Corporation
for applicable account structures.
Futures and Event Contracts
Current futures and event-account carriage is through:
Webull Futures LLC
NFA ID:
0568685
Webull Futures is a CFTC-registered Futures Commission Merchant.
Futures and Event Contract accounts are not SIPC protected.
Crypto
Crypto is provided through:
Webull Pay LLC
NMLS:
1886762
Third-party execution and custody currently involve:
* Coinbase * Bakkt
depending on location.
Crypto is not SIPC or FDIC protected.
Managed investing
Investment advisory services are provided through:
Webull Advisors LLC
which is an SEC-registered investment adviser.
Trades in those advisory accounts are executed by Webull Financial.
SIPC does not protect trading performance
SIPC protection does not reimburse a Webull brokerage customer because:
* a stock declines * an option expires worthless * a bond loses value * a trading strategy fails
Futures, Event Contracts and crypto use different legal structures and should not be described as ordinary SIPC-protected brokerage assets.
Where Webull is strongest
Advanced trading tools. Desktop charting, order flow, TurboTrader, screeners and customizable layouts remain central advantages.
Options. Standard equity options have no Webull commission or contract fee, while analytical tools are unusually deep.
Futures. Webull now has a serious futures product rather than a token offering.
OpenAPI. Developers can access stocks, options, futures, crypto and Event Contracts programmatically.
Fractional shares. Eligible stock and ETF investing starts at $1.
24/5 equities. Select securities can trade through the overnight session.
Crypto. Direct crypto has returned to the main app with 70+ current assets.
Prediction markets. Event Contracts create another genuine product category.
Managed investing. Webull Advisors gives customers an automated option from $100.
Fixed income. Treasury and bond support makes Webull more complete than its old active-trader reputation suggests.
Where Webull is weaker
Mutual funds remain limited compared with Fidelity or Schwab. Traditional mutual-fund investors have stronger choices elsewhere.
Crypto's 1% spread is meaningful. A zero explicit commission does not mean low transaction cost.
The product structure is increasingly complicated. Securities, futures, crypto and advisory services use different entities.
Outgoing transfers cost $75.
Advanced market data can cost extra. Some serious traders will need paid feeds.
Margin is expensive without Premium. The standard rate is materially higher than certain low-margin-rate competitors.
International-market access is limited on the U.S. platform. Webull's global corporate presence does not mean a U.S. account can directly trade all of those foreign markets.
The platform may be excessive for a passive investor. Much of Webull's differentiation is irrelevant if the account holds only a few index funds.
Who is Webull most appropriate for?
Webull makes the strongest case for an investor who wants sophisticated trading tools without moving to an institutional-style interface.
That can include traders using:
* stocks * options * futures * crypto * overnight markets * APIs * event contracts
It can also serve longer-term investors through:
* fractional shares * recurring investments * IRAs * bonds * Webull Advisors
The platform is less compelling for someone primarily interested in a huge mutual-fund marketplace or broad direct international investing.
Webull's original appeal was simple:
advanced tools without a traditional brokerage commission structure.
Its current proposition is broader.
The platform is becoming a multi-product financial ecosystem built around active-investor technology.
