TradeStation and Webull both serve active traders, but the platforms were built in different eras for different workflows.

TradeStation is a strategy-development brokerage: EasyLanguage, RadarScreen, Portfolio Maestro, OptionStation Pro and direct routing sit at the centre of the product, and pricing is tiered by monthly volume. Webull is a modern U.S.-centric trading platform with $0 headline pricing on eligible stocks, ETFs and equity options and a product set that now spans futures, crypto and event contracts.

A single ranking would not be useful. These are different tools.

Equity pricing

TradeStation charges $0 commission on U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs, but its canonical schedule states additional per-share costs: $0.003 per share clearing and $0.0048 per share direct-routing at the first volume tier of 0 to 100,000 shares per month, with rates declining at higher volumes. A $10 monthly inactivity fee applies unless activity requirements are met.

Webull charges $0 commission on eligible U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs with regulatory and exchange fees still applying, and states a $0 brokerage account minimum with no standard account fee.

A $0 headline commission does not mean zero cost at either firm, but the cost components differ: TradeStation states clearing and routing charges, Webull states regulatory and exchange charges.

Options pricing

TradeStation charges a $0 base ticket plus tiered per-contract pricing: at the first tier of 0 to 500 contracts per month, $0.80 per contract, per side single-leg and $0.40 per contract, per side multi-leg, with a $1.00 per contract, per side index-option fee, a $0.025 per contract clearing fee and a $1.00 per contract direct-routing fee where used. Exercise or assignment costs $14.95 per position, and early assignment or exercise is $1.50 per contract with a $5.95 minimum.

Webull charges $0 commission and a $0 contract fee on stock and ETF options, and $0.50 per contract on index options on its controlling pricing page. Some Webull pages have stated $0.55; that discrepancy is tracked as a monitoring trigger and should be confirmed before trading.

Options tooling

TradeStation's options workflow runs through OptionStation Pro, with Greeks, implied-volatility rank and percentile, beta-weighted delta, multi-leg strategies, direct routing and options simulation.

Webull provides four approval levels with defined strategy sets, an options screener and calculator, profit-and-loss diagrams, Greeks, implied volatility, rolling, leg-in/leg-out, unusual options activity and paper options trading.

Futures

TradeStation charges $1.75 per contract, per side on standard futures and $0.50 on micro futures at the first tier of 0 to 500 contracts per month, declining to $0.50 and $0.25 above 10,000 contracts per month, with a $0.10 per contract, per side clearing fee and $0.85 per contract, per side on futures options through FuturesPlus.

Webull charges $0.25 per contract, per side on micro futures, $0.70 on mini futures and $1.25 on standard futures through Webull Futures LLC, plus exchange and NFA fees.

A high-volume futures trader and an occasional micro-futures trader will read these schedules very differently.

Platform families

TradeStation's canonical platform list covers TITAN X, TradeStation Desktop, Web Trading, Mobile, OptionStation Pro, FuturesPlus, the Trading API, EasyLanguage, RadarScreen and Portfolio Maestro.

Webull's platform list covers Webull Desktop, WebTrade, Mobile and Webull Lite.

EasyLanguage and strategy development

EasyLanguage is TradeStation's strategy-programming language, supported alongside algorithmic trading, market scanning through RadarScreen and portfolio-level tooling in Portfolio Maestro.

An equivalent strategy-programming language is not established in Webull's canonical record. Webull's automation route is its OpenAPI rather than an in-platform scripting language.

Backtesting and simulation

TradeStation establishes strategy backtesting, portfolio backtesting, simulated trading, options simulation and futures simulation.

Webull establishes paper trading, including paper options and futures trading. Strategy and portfolio backtesting of the TradeStation kind is not established in Webull's canonical record.

Charting and scanning

Both establish advanced charting. TradeStation adds market depth, market scanning, direct market access and direct order routing. Webull adds drawing tools with cloud sync, unlimited layouts, custom alerts, technical indicators, company fundamentals and subscription data feeds including Nasdaq TotalView, NBBO and overnight Level 2.

APIs

TradeStation offers REST, streaming and FIX connectivity with a sandbox, covering equities, options, futures, account information, orders, positions, streaming quotes, market depth, options chains, historical data and advanced order types.

Webull's OpenAPI covers stocks, fractional stocks, options, futures, crypto and event contracts over HTTP, MQTT and gRPC, with Python and Java SDKs.

Both are real developer platforms; the asset coverage and transport choices differ.

Extended and 24/5 trading

TradeStation establishes extended-hours trading from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET for eligible equities. A 24/5 session is not established in its canonical record.

Webull establishes 24/5 trading on selected securities with pre-market, after-hours and overnight sessions running Sunday evening through Thursday overnight, with eligibility subject to change.

Crypto

TradeStation terminated all crypto-related products and services in the U.S. market on February 22, 2024. No current spot-crypto offering is established. Crypto-linked futures are regulated derivatives and are a different product.

Webull supports direct crypto through Webull Pay LLC with Coinbase, and Bakkt Crypto Solutions, LLC in New York, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, with a headline 70+ assets, about 1% spread included in the buy and sell price on many trades, $0 custody fee and 24/7 trading. Crypto accounts are not SIPC protected.

Prediction and event contracts

Webull offers Kalshi event contracts through Webull Futures LLC at $0.01 per contract firm fee plus $0.01 per contract exchange fee, with $0.01 to $0.99 contract pricing and $1 winning and $0 losing settlement, in a separate account that is not SIPC protected.

Event or prediction contracts are not established in TradeStation's canonical record.

Automated investing

Neither record establishes a robo-advisor at TradeStation; managed portfolios are recorded as not supported.

Webull Advisors LLC offers automated portfolios with a $100 minimum and an annual advisory fee of approximately 0.15% to 0.30% depending on strategy.

Platform philosophy

TradeStation is a strategy-development and execution platform for traders who want to code, test and route. Webull is a broad modern trading platform for self-directed investors who want low headline pricing across many product types.

ROIStreet does not assign a winner or star rating. The fit follows from whether you build strategies or trade discretionary across a wide product set.
