Overview
dub combines a U.S. brokerage account, a social portfolio marketplace, real-time auto-copying and a separate advisory layer for professionally managed Premium Portfolios.
That mix makes one distinction essential:
copying a normal user portfolio is not the same legal service as investing in a Premium Portfolio managed by dub Advisors.
The ordinary marketplace is closer to self-directed copy trading. The customer chooses a portfolio, authorizes standing instructions and can stop copying or liquidate.
Premium Portfolios add discretionary management by an SEC-registered advisory affiliate. The investor still selects the Premium Portfolio, but dub Advisors manages the allocated assets under the applicable advisory agreement.
The current operating structure is:
- DASTA Incorporated — parent/platform company;
- DASTA Financial, LLC, doing business as dub Financial — registered broker-dealer;
- dub Advisors, LLC — registered investment adviser for Premium Portfolios;
- Apex Clearing Corporation — clearing/custody infrastructure for the brokerage account;
- customer — owns the brokerage account and chooses what to copy or stop copying.
May fit better for
- investors who want real-time portfolio copying rather than delayed 13F-style replication;
- users who want to choose among public creator portfolios;
- investors who want a more managed option through Premium Portfolios;
- users comfortable paying a recurring platform subscription;
- investors who value fractional, dollar-weighted replication;
- mobile-first investors;
- investors who understand that copied historical results do not guarantee their own result.
May fit less well for
- investors who want a free brokerage with no recurring platform subscription;
- users who want direct cryptocurrency trading;
- investors who want every copied portfolio managed by a fiduciary adviser;
- investors who need a desktop-first professional trading platform;
- users who assume a creator controls their brokerage account;
- investors who want one universal Premium management fee;
- users who expect copying to eliminate timing, price and execution differences.
---
Brokerage and advisory functions must stay separate
Current FINRA BrokerCheck identifies DASTA Financial, LLC as:
- CRD: 316477
- SEC number: 8-70841
dub Financial is the broker-dealer.
dub Advisors is the investment adviser for the managed Premium service.
For ordinary copied user portfolios:
- Dub Advisors management: No
- Self directed copying: Yes
- Standing auto copy authorization: Yes
For Premium Portfolios:
- Dub Advisors management: Yes
- Discretionary management of allocated assets: Yes
- Customer selects portfolio: Yes
A customer can therefore use the same app under two materially different responsibility models.
---
Real-time copy trading is a standing-instruction workflow
dub's current copy-trading materials describe the service as real-time portfolio mirroring.
A user can:
- choose a portfolio;
- allocate money;
- have eligible creator trades mirrored;
- add capital;
- partially liquidate;
- fully liquidate;
- stop future copying.
Stopping a copy is not the same as selling the existing holdings.
The customer remains exposed to execution differences.
A copied creator trade can occur at a different price because of:
- market movement;
- spread;
- fractional execution;
- liquidity;
- order timing;
- account cash;
- account restrictions;
- security availability.

Current new-user platform subscription
Current June 2026 dub materials state:
- Platform subscription monthly: $9.99
- Platform subscription annual: $89.99
- Trial: 7 days
The subscription is described as required before brokerage account opening for the current new-user model.
The same current materials state that users who joined on or after June 11, 2026 at 4:15 p.m. ET use the newer Premium management-fee model.
Keep legacy subscription structures separate.
A separate Founder's Access help page exists for early users and is explicitly described as legacy and unavailable to new users.
---
Premium Portfolio fees are portfolio-specific
Current dub advisory documents establish two possible fee models across applicable Premium relationships:
- a flat Premium subscription fee for applicable legacy or transitioning arrangements;
- an asset-based advisory fee for managed Premium Portfolios.
The current advisory agreement says legacy/applicable flat Premium subscriptions generally range from:
- Legacy or applicable Premium subscription: $25–$500 per subscription period
The same agreement states that asset-based advisory fees generally range from:
- Premium asset based advisory fee: 0%–2.50% per year
Current 2026 consumer materials emphasize the asset-based model for newer users.
The current fee schedule also contains a wider numerical row that does not align cleanly with the explanatory disclosure.
Therefore store:
- Current portfolio specific fee controls: Yes
- Fee disclosure conflict present: Yes
The accurate statement is simpler:
the exact Premium fee is disclosed for the specific portfolio before the investor copies it.
---
Asset-based management fees continue through losses
Current dub management-fee documentation states that asset-based fees:
- are annualized;
- are based on assets allocated to the Premium Portfolio;
- are deducted from the brokerage account;
- apply whether the portfolio gains or loses value.
A fee-impact calculator can help illustrate historical fee drag.
It does not convert past returns into an expected return.
---
Apex is the clearing/custody layer
The brokerage relationship uses Apex Clearing Corporation for applicable clearing and custody functions.
SIPC treatment belongs to the brokerage/custody structure and does not protect against market loss.
Any bank-sweep FDIC treatment applies only to eligible swept bank deposits under the actual sweep program.
---
Starting capital and deposit minimums are different questions
Current dub consumer materials repeatedly use approximately $100 as a practical starting amount.
The deposit help materials also reference an ACH minimum.
A specific Premium Portfolio can impose its own minimum allocation.
---
Supported securities do not include direct crypto
The current dub brokerage service focuses on conventional brokerage securities such as stocks, ETFs, cash and related eligible instruments.
---
Performance requires a copy-execution
A creator's displayed track record and a follower's realized result can diverge.
Relevant causes include:
- the follower starts later;
- the follower allocates different capital;
- cash is unavailable;
- security eligibility differs;
- fills occur at different prices;
- fractional execution differs;
- the follower pauses or stops;
- fees differ;
- taxes differ.
The operating advantage of real-time copying is reduced delay.
It is not identical fill quality.
Assessment
dub is more than a social feed attached to a brokerage account.
The useful feature is executable portfolio following.
The harder analytical point is that the same app contains both self-directed copy relationships and adviser-managed Premium relationships.
That changes:
- who makes ongoing investment decisions;
- which fee applies;
- which legal entity owes which duty;
- how performance should be interpreted.
The best comparison is therefore not:
copy trading versus robo-advisor.
It is:
self-directed marketplace copying versus discretionary Premium management inside one platform.
A prospective user should decide which of those services is actually being purchased before comparing cost or historical performance.
